Had a good time at Good Time Charley's :-).

Today is a bad day for Michigan - State lost to California and UMich lost to Notre Dame. Sheesh.

It's interesting being at such a conservative Catholic law school. While everyone is real pleasant and no one tries to dictate to those of us who are not Catholic, I still find some of the extremism unsettling. For instance, we have a gubernatorial election here which pits a pro-life Republican, Posthumus, against a pro-choice Democrat, Granholm. Granholm supports partial birth abortion. Now, this absolutely horrifies me. I think p.b.a. is inhumane and abominable. It is enough for me to be what I generally don't like: a one issue voter. However, it amazes me how many of the good Catholics want Granholm excommunicated from the Catholic Church because of her beliefs. The very act of excommunication elimiates the possibility of showing one the wrong of their ways and also the possibility of their redemption. It should only be used in in the most extreme of cases and then only for action and not belief. How can you be any less Christian than by wanting someone damned because of their belief as opposed to their action?
